The survey's aim was to collect data about the subsea area around the cable landfall and nearshore cable corridor. This data will help inform the further development of the project.
NorthConnect employed MMT to perform the survey with the multi-functional survey vessel, Møkster Shippings’s 76 metre 'Stril Explorer'. A total team of 52 were on board, comprising vessel crew, survey team from MMT and representatives from the NorthConnect project.
NorthConnect Engineering Manager Fredrik Rüter said: "We are pleased to have this first phase of the survey work under our belt. This is the first physical onsite work undertaken by the project, and is an important step in the further development of the NorthConnect interconnector".
The next stage of the marine survey, covering the North Sea and Hardangerfjord cable corridor, is planned to commence in spring 2017.
