NorthConnect has appointed marine survey specialist MMT as marine survey contractor for the approximately 665km long cable corridor of the proposed NorthConnect interconnector.

The survey work will map and investigate a seabed corridor, between Long Haven bay, near Peterhead on the Scottish coast, and Sima in the inner part of the Hardangerfjord in Norway. The survey work will provide maps and data that will inform the further development of the NorthConnect project, which is currently in the early phases of development.

Nearshore UK survey work will start in late 2016, with survey of North Sea and Hardangerfjord parts of the route currently planned to start in spring 2017.

The operation has been divided in various phases of a complete marine survey and include geophysics, geotechnical and environmental mapping and visual inspection for the costal survey of this project. We are very pleased with the confidence from NorthConnect to be their trusted partners and look forward to the development of the NorthConnect Interconnector” said Karin Gunnesson, MMT´s Project Manager.
